The Fair GO SA Inc. hosted a community event on the 27th of July 2023, titled "Why Chinese Australians should support the ‘Yes Vote’ (Bilingual Event) 为何华人应该支持 Yes Vote." Special guest speakers included Uncle Kenny Bedford and the Federal Member for Boothby, Ms. Louise Miller-Frost, who provided valuable insights into the Voice to Parliament referendum. The event aimed to attract 40 participants but successfully drew approximately 50 attendees. The event began with four Chinese Australian children singing the ‘Nina Marni’ Welcome song, showing our appreciation of Aboriginal land. The forum offered a great opportunity to understand the history and significance of the Australian Aboriginal community, fostering a deeper connection and appreciation for the Aboriginal land we share. Participants left with a heightened awareness of the importance of the Yes Vote, recognising it as a step towards greater inclusion and respect for Aboriginal voices in decision-making processes. This event underscored the significance of unity and informed engagement within the Chinese Australian community in supporting the Voice to the referendum.
